Do I need to increase my auto insurance coverage limits in Michigan?

I'm 17 years old and currently have the minimum coverage limits. I drive a 2003 Hyundai Sonata and want to know if I should increase my coverage levels. My rate right now is affordable, so I don't know if I should increase my limits with my current carrier or try to find someone else.

“It’s always recommended to carry higher coverage limits than the minimum state requirements.
The amount of coverage you carry depends on your own personal situation. Looking at what you can afford monthly for insurance, as well as what you can afford to pay out of pocket in the event of an accident, is important.
If you’re worried about the cost to repair your vehicle should there be damage or an accident, you should consider adding comprehensive coverage and collision coverage.
Since you currently have an affordable rate with your carrier, it’s definitely worth finding out how much higher coverage will cost. If the price increase is outside of what you can afford, take a look at other carriers. While your current insurance carrier may not offer an affordable rate for higher coverage limits, another carrier might. “
