Yes, all vehicles required a safety inspection in Texas however,
electric vehicles
are not required to complete the emissions test.
All vehicles are required to have a thorough safety inspection with an annually updated registration sticker. The safety inspections involve things like seat belts, turn signals, headlights, braking systems, etc. All vehicles—including electric vehicles—operating on the road have these and therefore they are required to be in working order.
Electric vehicles and low emissions vehicles do not have to complete the low emissions tests required in some
Texas
counties. Since these vehicles are designed to have low to zero CO emissions, the test is unnecessary.
Emissions testing is to make sure that fuel-burning vehicles that emit carbon dioxide and hydrocarbons, cause as little harm to the environment as possible.
Always make sure that your vehicle meets the guidelines necessary to drive on the road.
Your vehicle may not need an emissions test, but you’ll need
