I'm not sure about the mechanics of an electric vehicle, so I often wonder how similar it is to a regular car. For instance: Do electric cars have a driveshaft?

Although electric cars aren’t new to the world, we still have much to learn about how they operate. To answer your question, most conventional
electric vehicles
do have a driveshaft.
You can find the driveshaft on the drivetrain in a vehicle. Its purpose is to send torque from the transmission to the differential for the wheels to move the car.
In some EV models, the motor sends power to the wheels using the drive shaft. When the energy from the electric motor gets to the wheels, the power gets added to a long driveshaft. The shaft is rotated and transfers power to the wheels.
EVs with in-wheel motors are slightly different. The motor is installed close to each wheel in these cars and moves the wheels through tiny drive shafts. What a significant improvement! The long driveshaft creates a lag, while the smaller in-wheel drive shafts eliminate it. An improvement like this allows for more precise control of the wheels.
