Can you withdraw a home insurance claim?

I filed a home insurance claim because my home was recently tagged and vandalized. After I filed the claim I researched repairs. Not only can I afford to cover the cost of repairs without a settlement, but I can do it myself. I don’t want my home insurance premium to be increased upon renewal. Can I withdraw a home insurance claim?

I’m glad you can repair the damages to your home! Luckily, you can withdraw a claim from your
home insurance
company easily with these steps:
  • Contact a representative of your insurance company.
  • Provide your name and claim number.
  • Explain why you want to withdraw your claim.
Even if you decide to withdraw the claim, it won’t be expunged from your record. Because no money was exchanged, it will appear as a zero payout on your claims history. Most insurance companies don’t rate a $0 payout, but some will, so there is the possibility your insurance rate may increase at renewal.
If your rate increases at renewal, consider using
Jerry
to find a new policy. A licensed broker, Jerry does all the hard work of finding cheap quotes from the top name-brand insurance companies and buying new home or renters insurance. Jerry will even help you cancel your old policy.
