Can you park in a school zone?
Every time I turn around, my son has forgotten to take something to school with him. It’d be easy to just park right in front and run in the building, but is it legal to park in a school zone?

Sometimes it can seem like our kids leave things behind on purpose when they head to school! In terms of parking, though, the answer really depends on the school zone. It’s not strictly illegal to park in a school zone, but many towns and cities do designate areas around schools as no-parking zones to keep the street visibly clear for children to cross the street.
Even if the street is not designated as a no-parking zone, keep an eye out for things like:
- Intersections
- Crosswalks
- Yellow curbs
- Fire hydrants
Blocking or parking in front of any of these areas is illegal, so if you see them in front of your son’s school, you’ll need to park your car somewhere else before you run in.
