Can you flat tow a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
My husband and I will be driving our motorhome to Key West this winter. This year, I’m insisting we tow our Grand Cherokee behind us, because running errands in town with the motorhome last year was a disaster, especially when my husband assured me parallel parking the RV wouldn’t be a problem. Anyways, this year I’d like to avoid a repeat, so—can you flat tow a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

You can flat tow a 2020
Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4
or a 2020 Trailhawk Grand Cherokee
; if you have a different trim level, then you cannot flat tow your 2020 Grand Cherokee. The Limited and the Trailhawk models both come with the Quadra-Trac 4x4 system, which offers a setting known as 4-LO, meaning low-speed four-wheel drive—this allows you to get more torque at lower speeds.
But before whipping out your tow bar and fastening the Grand Cherokee to your motorhome, you’re going to want to check your Jeep owner’s manual or consult your dealer to ensure your 2020 Grand Cherokee is suitable for flat towing. Otherwise, you could be in danger of voiding your warranty.
The Grand Cherokee’s gross vehicle weight rating is another thing to think about when considering flat towing your Jeep. Your Grand Cherokee can weigh anywhere between 4,500 and 5,500 pounds. Not only is this a big load for most Class C RVs, but it would push many Class A RVs to their tow limits as well. Just to be on the safe side, you should only flat-tow your 2020 Grand Cherokee using a Class A or Super C motorhome that is equipped with a sturdy tow package.
