Can reckless driving be reduced?

I got a reckless driving charge for going 75 mph in a 45 mph zone. I’m worried about what this might do to my driving record and insurance rates. However, I’ve read a good lawyer may be able to get the charge dismissed. How can I get my reckless driving charges reduced?

As with many misdemeanor driving charges—or even a
DUI
—a good lawyer can often get a reckless driving charge reduced to a more minor traffic infraction. However, several factors are at play when determining whether a driver is worthy of a reduced charge or dismissal of reckless driving.
In some cases, procedural errors by the ticketing officer can lead to reduced charges or a dismissal. In addition, the court can also reduce the charges if you:
  • Attend a driving class
  • Pay a fine (usually less than $500)
  • Plead guilty to a lesser charge before the case goes to court
To avoid such charges in the future, pay close attention to speed limit signs, don’t engage in drag racing, and avoid any other temptation to drive aggressively.
Keep in mind that even if your charges are reduced, your

rates will most likely increase. That’s when shopping around with
