Can a color blind person get a driver's license in the USA?

I’m color blind, and I have trouble distinguishing certain colors from other ones. I want to get my driver’s license, but my friend told me that I couldn’t because of my condition. Can a color blind person obtain a driver’s license in the U.S.?

While being able to see is essential to
safe driving
, color blindness will not disqualify you from getting a license. The only way that eye conditions can hinder you from getting a license is if you fail the eye exam that allows you to get your license.
Interestingly enough, stoplights are uniform around the world for this very reason. The red light is always on top, the middle is yellow, and the bottom is green. The reason for this is so that color-blind individuals can still tell whether to stop, go, or slow down.
You can get a license as a color-blind individual, but you will still need accompanying car insurance to legally drive. So don’t put on your blinders to higher prices. Instead, shop around with the
