Can a carpool ticket really raise your insurance rates?

I paid a carpool ticket on time. My insurance recently renewed and my rates skyrocketed. What should I do?

“How much a carpool ticket affects you depends on where you live. Some states don’t consider carpool tickets moving violations, while others do.
If your carpool ticket wasn’t a moving violation, it likely isn’t the reason why your
car insurance
increased. When policy renewal comes up, car insurance companies often rerate it based on other factors. If your driving record has changed or claims increased in your area, your rate could increase. As car insurance carriers often change rates, it’s also likely there may have been a company-wide or state-mandated increase.
If your ticket was a moving violation, your rates could have increased even if you paid it on time. You can request your driving record from the DMV. Doing so allows you to see what may be influencing your rates.
You also always have the option to shop around. Car insurance companies are all different. You may be able to find a better rate with another company. You can compare car insurance quotes from various companies on the
Jerry
app to determine if someone is offering you a better rate.”
