If you're a fan of the Bad Boys movie, you're probably wondering whether Michael Bay, the renowned director, will come out with another sequel after the thrilling Bad Boys for Life. With its action-packed driving sequences, the movies have always sported some incredible
car models
Bad Boys II notably featured a
Ferrari
, though only a few film buffs could tell the exact model.  According to
Motor Authority
, it was none other than the Ferrari 550 Maranello.
Though the “Bad Boys” series often featured Porsches, Michael Bay decided to use a Ferrari for a car chase in the second movie.

The Ferrari 550 Maranello from ‘Bad Boys II’

While Porsche has always dominated the Bad Boys franchise line of cars, Bay chose the Ferrari 550 Maranello for 2003's Bad Boys II. If you’re a keen-eyed film watcher, it was the car that the main characters, detectives Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence), used in the hot pursuit of criminals trafficking ecstasy.
You may have also noticed that Lowrey switches between the Maranello 550 and 575. Still, the two cars deliver excellent performance and handling, and it's no wonder Bay chose to feature them in the movie. With a powerful V-12 engine under its hood, the 550 delivered a maximum speed of 198 mph and could get from zero to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds.

How many of the cars used in ‘Bad Boys’ are real?

If you thought that the crashes and destruction filmed in Bad Boys are CGI (computer-generated imagery), then you're wrong. When asked about that, Bay confirmed that he actually uses a lot of real cars for the scenes. Astonishingly, around 20 cars and a boat were destroyed in the movie's first four minutes.
Besides the Ferrari Maranello 550, another real car featured in Bad Boys II was a yellow Hummer H2. Bay chose the behemoth SUV to do one of the most demanding off-roading jobs of any film-featured automobile: driving through a thick forest.
It's mind-boggling how the 3-ton car could move with such speed. But for those familiar with the Hummer H2, it's no surprise. The car features a V-8 engine with a rating of 5200 rpm. The 6.0-liter motor cranks out 320 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque.

The Ferrari Maranello 550 is only one among the many hypercars featured in the Bad Boys sequel. Many fans of the movie have concluded that Michael Bay has a high affinity for German car brands, particularly Porsche.
In 1995's Bad Boys, Mike Lowrey, a trust-fund beneficiary turned Miami PD detective, rolled in a black Porsche 911 Turbo. The car was actually from Bay's personal collection. In an interview with
Car and Driver
, Bay said that, "The studio didn't have the money to rent or buy a car. Porsche also didn't want to sponsor the movie," which is what compelled him to use his own.
Bad Boys For Life was released in January 2020, and Porsche once again starred after taking a backseat in Bad Boys II. This time, it was a 2020 992-generation Porsche 911 S. It appears in an eye-catching Gentian Blue Metallic.
