How do I get my 10-year driving record in California?

I want to get my 10-year driving record to see what’s on it since I’ve seen my car insurance rates rise for seemingly no reason. What do I need to do to get my 10-year driving record in California?

To get your 10-year driving record in
California
, you can contact the DMV either by phone, online, by mail, or in person
Here’s how to do it:
  • Online: Go to the DMV’s
    Driver’s Record Request page
, provide your information, and pay the $2 fee.
  • By phone: Call 916-657-8098 and request to have the record mailed to you.
  • In-person: Go to the DMV and fill out an INF 1125 form.
  • By mail: Print out the INF 1125 form, provide the $5 payment, and mail them to: DMV Information Release Unit MS G199 PO Box 944247 Sacramento, CA 94244-2470
Keep in mind: The only charges that stick for 10 or more years are serious incidents, such as a DUI or accidents involving bodily injury or death, so unless you have a serious violation on your record, most insurers will only look back about three to five years to determine what rate to charge you.
