Tesla In-Car Gameplay Under Investigation

Tesla
has been under federal investigation into potential safety defects. On top of Tesla
Autopilot concerns
, the electric vehicle car brand is now fighting reports of problematic in-car gameplay technology.
Many of Tesla’s features have come under scrutiny in the past year.

Tesla touchscreen gaming under investigation

According to
BBC
, an investigation has been launched in the U.S. into vehicles that are equipped with Tesla touchscreens.
Apparently, a user discovered that he could play games on the touchscreens… while driving. Talk about a safety hazard.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) noted that this may distract the driver and increase the risk of a car accident. The NHTSA is currently looking into around half a million Tesla models that may be affected.
Investigated vehicles include the Tesla Models 3, S, and X that were made from 2017 to the current day.
The exact feature that is being investigated is the Passenger Play function. When functioning properly it allows users to play games on their in-car touchscreen.
Previously, the gaming feature had only been usable while the vehicle was in Park mode. Since December 2020 though, Passenger Play has been allowed for passengers who wanted to game while someone else was driving.
However, the ability to play games while the car is in motion should only be for passengers. Drivers being able to do so can be a seriously distracting feature. This is far from the first time Tesla has been hit by investigations lately.

Tesla has become one of the least reliable American car brands

Reliability
is one of the many important factors that people consider when purchasing a vehicle. No matter how sleek or stylish a car is, if it breaks down easily or malfunctions frequently, the brand’s reliability can plummet in the eyes of car owners and enthusiasts.
Tesla is one of those brands that has taken a great hit. In 2021, Tesla’s Autopilot has also under investigation for not functioning properly and being a potential safety risk according to
Consumer Reports
(CR).
From unexplained fires, delays upon delays, to people being charged for subscriptions they didn't sign up for, Tesla has plenty to deal with this year.
CR also published their annual reliability rankings, and Tesla was listed at the bottom of the list, only more reliable than Lincoln, a luxury car brand that has been struggling with recalls over safety issues.
