Early years of the 1973 Chevelle Laguna

Sure, the Laguna came as an estate wagon, station wagon, four-door, and two-door, but muscle car lovers fell for its two-door coupe. The car offered a lot to love, with a front and rear appearance different from everything else at the time, reports Hemmings. Slipping inside its confines, the driver and passengers discovered a luxurious interior.
On the outside, the 1973 Chevelle Laguna met onlookers with a body-colored urethane nose featuring an impact strip and a unique grille. The car also left a lasting impression with its body-colored rear bumper featuring an impact strip. The muscle car also offered parking lamps, roof drip moldings, wheel covers, and wheel opening moldings.
If its exterior "Laguna" emblems didn't tell you the difference in this Chevelle, admiring its interior did. You slipped inside to place your hands on its color-keyed steering wheel and admire its dash inlaid with Carpathian burled elm pattern vinyl.
Under the hood, the Chevrolet came standard with a 145 horsepower 350-cu.in. two-barrel V-8 and a three-speed manual transmission. You could stop on a dime with its front disc brakes.
If you needed more power, you could have it by opting for the Laguna's available 175 horsepower 350-cubic inch four-barrel engine or its 245-hp 454-cubic inch four-barrel engine. It 454 required power brakes, power steering, and an HD battery. You could opt for a three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic with a Turbo-350 variant when choosing the 350 engine. The 454 also had its Turbo option—the Turbo-400.

While the 1960s Chevelles proved most popular, the Laguna earned a cult following, says Old Cars Weekly. The Chevelles of 1973 came with a novelty built-in—swiveling Strato bucket seats. This makes them a desirable vehicle among collectors.
