background
Ford
makes some of the best trucks on the market, but not all Ford trucks are basic work trucks with few features. Indeed, the Ford F-250 is not only a heavier-duty version of the F-150, but it also can come with the Platinum package. So how does the Ford F-250 Platinum compare with the other trucks in its class?
Not all trucks are created equally, and the F-250 Platinum is a definite beast.

wrote, at a price tag starting at about $67,000, the F-250 Platinum is a significantly more expensive truck than the regular F-150. But, with that extra price tag, the F-250 Platinum comes with more features, and of course, more powerful specs.
Since the F-250 Platinum is based on the F-250, it'll come with a few powerful engine options. The standard engine is a 6.2-liter V-8, and it gets 385 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque.
However, the most powerful engine option is a 6.7-liter turbo V-8 diesel, and it gets 450 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft of torque.
That powerful diesel engine allows the truck to tow about 37,000 pounds. On the interior, though, is where the Platinum trim shines. This is where the F-250 Platinum really separates itself from the regular F-250.

How different is the Ford F-250 Platinum?

The F-250 Platinum's cabin is simply full of leather upholstery and high-tech features. Not only are the seats leather, but they can be heated seats, and massage seats, too. Ford also has power equipment everywhere on the F-250 Platinum.
Furthermore, high-tech stuff like blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and more are standard on the Platinum trim. Those smart safety features ensure that folks are safe when they're driving around in the truck.
And, of course, the truck's infotainment and creature comfort features make sure that folks are very relaxed while they're towing around a ton of stuff. On top of that, the F-250 Platinum in the 2022 model year will only come with all-wheel drive, which will be very useful.

The Platinum vs. the competition

Heavy-duty trucks are a pretty small segment, but the F-250 Platinum is certainly a strong competitor there. There is a debate on whether the diesel or the gas engine is better, but the diesel option definitely provides the most towing capacity.
As such, an F-250 Platinum equipped with the diesel engine provides the most towing capacity in its class, while also providing a lot of luxury features.
That being said, the F-250 Platinum, while it's a very expensive trim, isn't the most expensive trim available for the F-250. That honor would go to the Limited trim, which starts at well over $86,000.
Because of that, the Limited trim comes with even more luxury features than the Platinum trim. As such, an F-250 Limited, when equipped with a diesel engine, is going to be better than the Platinum trim with the same engine.
So, while the Platinum is a better truck than much of its competition, the Limited trim while costing about $20,000 more, is technically better than the Platinum.

Every new Ford truck needs insurance

The Ford F-250 Platinum is certainly a high-end version of the regular Ford truck, and folks who are thinking about buying one may want to think about covering it with a new policy, too.
