(CR) has some advice that might help make the decision just a little easier.The review site has released a list of popular cars you should avoid, and some alternatives that deserve your attention. The 2021 Chevy Colorado failed to earn a recommendation. If you’re in the market for a compact pickup truck, CR thinks you should take a look at the Jeep Gladiator as a better alternative.
Consumer Reports thinks you should avoid these vehicles
There were a total of five vehicles on the list of cars to avoid:
- 2021 Volkswagen Jetta, Small Car
- 2021 Ford Escape, Small SUV
- 2021 Honda Passport, Midsize Two-Row SUV
- 2021 Ford Explorer, Midsize Three-Row SUV
- 2021 Chevrolet Colorado, Compact Pickup Truck
Each of these vehicles had deal-breakers such as below-average reliability across all five. Though these cars are top sellers, CR thinks there are much better alternatives.

might be thrilled with the Gladiator, which has many of the features that makes the Wrangler popular without the rough ride. The Gladiator scored a five out of five on predicted reliability and predicted owner satisfaction.Some more reasons to buy the Gladiator include strong engines, good towing capacity, and off-road performance. Being able to remove the top can be another great feature, but you might be deterred by the loud wind noise. CR thinks that the 2021 Jeep Gladiator is an "under the radar" truck that deserves more attention.
