How to start your Buick remotely through the myBuick app

The myBuick app can be downloaded on any smartphone from the App Store or Google Play Store. It’s a simple-to-use app that allows you to interact with and keep tabs on your Buick vehicle even when you’re nowhere near the vehicle itself.
After your download, you’ll either need to create an account or sign in with the email linked to your GM account. You’ll see a user-friendly home screen menu dotted with function icons once your credentials are verified. Then, to remotely start your Buick, simply tap and hold the “Start” button on the home page. The app will prompt you when the request has been completed and you’re free to release the button.
Remote start with turning your Buick on for up to 30 minutes unless you make it out in that time and carry on with your commute.

How to turn your Buick off remotely

Started the ol’ Buick up too early? Got called off work? Putting the grocery stop on hold for another day? You don’t have to traverse the cold outside to switch off your engine again—just press and hold the “Stop” button until you see a confirmation on the myBuick app that your car has stopped running.

Other myBuick features

The remote start/stop feature is a heavy hitter and maybe one of the main functions folks are searching for, but the myBuick app has a host of other useful features too:
  • Lock/unlock doors and trunk: The app can be used to lock and unlock your doors from almost anywhere.
  • Vehicle status: Check your tire pressure, oil and fuel levels, odometer reading and more.
  • Smart driver: Find information on your driving habits to see how you could become a more efficient driver.
  • myBuick Rewards and marketplace: Earn points towards rewards and services including Buick accessories and money off your new Buick purchase/lease.
  • Vehicle location: The app lets you honk the horn, flash the lights, and even see your vehicle’s location on a map so you’ll never lose your Buick in a crowded parking lot again.
  • Vehicle servicing: Set a maintenance schedule and your preferred dealer, and stay up to date on any recalls.
And more! You can even link your myBuick app with your OnStar account to find added safety and security features like roadside assistance and automatic crash response.

Is Buick’s remote start app free?

Unfortunately, no. Remote start capabilities aren’t automatically given in every Buick vehicle.
However, all original purchasers of new Buick vehicles from 2016 and later get 10-year complimentary access to the myBuick Connected Access Plan. This is the base access plan for your Buick and only includes Vehicle Diagnostics, Smart Driver, and myBuick Rewards.
In order to stave off the winter winds with remote start, you’ll need to subscribe to the Remote Access Plan for $14.99 per month or $149.90 per year. You can get even more useful features by upgrading to the Unlimited Access Plans or the OnStar Safety and Security plans, but for these too, you’ll need to shell out more subscription money.

The myBuick app’s remote start function will only work with Buick vehicles already equipped with the remote key start system.
