- Take out the old oil filter while the oil is draining.
- Install the new oil filter.
- Use a new washer to screw in the old drain bolt and tighten it to 29 lb-ft.
- Refill the engine with your new oil and replace the fill cap.
- Turn your car back on for a few minutes, checking for leaks while the new oil circulates.
- Turn the engine off and check the oil level with your dipstick to confirm that you’ve added enough.
Do not dump dirty oil on the ground or put it in your garbage can: Put the oil in a sealed container while you clean up so you can take it to a local recycling center to properly dispose of it.
