Certified pre-owned (CPO) Infinitis come with a special warranty that includes up to six years of warranty coverage and unlimited miles—but your coverage specifics will depend on the exact used vehicle you choose.
You might already be familiar with Infiniti’s factory warranty, or at least the fact that all brand-new Infinitis come with a set amount of warranty coverage built into the vehicle’s purchase price. But did you know that used Infinitis might be eligible for factory warranties, too? That’s right—if you buy a certified pre-owned vehicle from your Infiniti dealer, you could be in luck.

Infiniti certified pre-owned (CPO) warranty coverage

The Infiniti CPO warranty is offered for all certified pre-owned Infiniti vehicles, regardless of how much mileage they have. However, different plans are offered depending on said mileage. Let’s take a closer look.
If your CPO Infiniti has fewer than 15,000 miles on the odometer and is still within its original factory warranty period, then you’ll get a CPO bumper-to-bumper limited warranty that lasts 6 years or 75,000 miles from the original sale date—whichever comes first.
Opt for a CPO Infiniti with over 15,000 miles on the odometer—but still within its original factory warranty period—and you’ll get a CPO bumper-to-bumper limited warranty that lasts 6 years from the original date of sale with unlimited miles.
If the vehicle you choose is outside of the original factory warranty period, you’ll still get a CPO bumper-to-bumper warranty that lasts for two years from the date that you purchased the vehicle and with unlimited miles.
These warranty lengths are a little unusual, but rest assured that they are more comprehensive than other comparable brands!

What’s covered

Infiniti’s CPO warranty is a bumper-to-bumper limited warranty, which means that it takes care of most Infiniti automotive parts and the restraint system, with a couple of exceptions.

What isn’t covered

Like most limited warranties, the following items will be excluded from Infiniti’s warranty coverage:
  • Any damage caused by a collision, theft, or vandalism (which is why you need great car insurance—but more on that later!)
  • Wear-and-tear parts, such as brake pads or windshield wiper blades
  • Environmental damages, such as issues resulting from flooding or hail
  • Regular maintenance, like oil changes and tire rotations
  • Any issues resulting from improper maintenance, vehicle modifications, or general neglect

Additional benefits

Infiniti is a luxury brand, so it makes perfect sense that their CPO warranty comes with some luxury perks. You’ll enjoy:
  • Complimentary basic maintenance for one year
  • 24/7 roadside assistance
  • Access to a free courtesy car during covered repairs
  • Trip-interruption benefits when a repair is needed more than 100 miles from home

Is an Infiniti CPO warranty transferable?

Yes—the CPO warranty is fully transferable to subsequent owners as long as it is still within the warranty period at the time of sale. This will increase your resale value!

Infiniti CPO program certification process

To qualify for the Infiniti CPO warranty, the vehicle you purchase must be considered a certified pre-owned. So what, exactly, is a certified pre-owned vehicle compared to just a regular used car?
Well, all CPOs go through a rigorous certification process. In addition to performing a 167-point inspection, Infiniti will pull the vehicle history report and scrutinize every crucial component—from the headlight to the tail light.
In short, the process helps ensure that the CPO Infiniti you purchase isn’t a
lemon
. Of course, there are used Infinitis out there that are not certified, and they may have a lower sticker price. Just keep in mind that they haven’t undergone as rigorous an inspection and are not eligible for the CPO warranty.

Are Infinitis reliable?

When considering whether or not a CPO warranty is worth the higher sticker price, you should first consider the overall reliability scores of the brand.
According to RepairPal, The Infiniti Reliability Rating is 3.5 out of 5.0, which ranks it 16th out of 32 for all car brands—right in the middle of the pack in terms of long-term dependability.
J.D Power gives Infiniti a four out of five for overall dependability, which is an above-average ranking, but reports on individual models yield inconsistent results. Let’s take a closer look at some of Infiniti’s most popular models.

Infiniti QX50 reliability scores

The Infiniti QX50 is one of the most popular Infinitis out on the road, but its reliability scores are only just above average.
  • Consumer Reports: 3 out of 5 predicted reliability (2022)
  • RepairPal: 3.5 out of 5.0 reliability rating (328i)
  • J.D. Power: 77/100 quality and reliability score

Infiniti Q50 reliability scores

The QX50 and the Q50 have a lot in common—but one is an SUV, while the latter is a sedan. Buyers generally find the Q50 sedan to be slightly more reliable.
  • Consumer Reports: 3 out of 5 predicted reliability (2022)
  • RepairPal: 4.0 out of 5.0 reliability rating
  • J.D. Power: 80/100 quality and reliability score

Average Infiniti repair costs

RepairPal estimates the average annual repair costs for an Infiniti vehicle at about $638. This is certainly above many vehicles, but not as high as some other luxury brands like BMW, which can cost an annual average of $968 to repair.
Remember that your repair costs will look different year-to-year depending on what goes wrong with your vehicle. Its model, model year, and trim level will also have an effect.
Your CPO warranty won’t cover the cost of every single repair necessary, but it often helps pay for some of the more expensive services like transmission issues, or air conditioning and/or heating system malfunctions.
Take a look at some of the average costs for repairs that might be covered under your Infiniti CPO warranty:
  • Oil pressure sensor replacement: $139 - $168
  • Power steering cooler replacement: $650 - $693
  • Distributor assembly replacement: $359 - $373

Our take: is an Infiniti CPO warranty worth it?

In our opinion, yes—Infiniti’s CPO warranty is worth it. Even though the coverage term lengths are a little bit confusing, Infiniti ultimately offers more robust CPO coverage than other luxury brands. Plus, since the warranty is transferable, it ups the resale value of your vehicle.
Since Infinitis are only adequate in terms of reliability and can be pretty expensive to repair, a robust warranty could be important to have.
Of course, there are situational factors to consider. If you find an amazing deal on a used Infiniti, for example, the savings may be worth the sacrifice of the CPO. Plus, there’s no guarantee that your vehicle will need significant repairs while you own it. Ultimately, whether or not you need a CPO warranty is really up to you!
