You may have learned how to perform DIY
oil changes
on your 2021 Forte—but did you know that the final step is actually to manually turn off the maintenance reminder light?
Unfortunately, resetting the light can be a little confusing—almost as confusing as the oil change itself. Fortunately, we’ve got a full guide to walk you through, step-by-step!

How to reset the engine oil maintenance light on a 2021 Kia Forte

To manually reset the engine oil maintenance light on your ‘21 Forte, carefully follow these steps:
  • Turn the ignition to the ON position but don’t start the engine. For a Kia with a keyless starting system, press the ENGINE START/STOP button twice.
  • Enter “User Settings” mode by pushing the “MODE” button (located on the steering wheel) repeatedly until you find it.
  • Scroll through the options using the navigation switch. Find “Service interval” and the “OK” button to select it.
  • Activate the service interval function (should just need to add a checkmark). Set a maintenance reminder for the desired interval.
  • You can change the numbers using the navigation switch. Once you’re satisfied with the reminder interval, press the OK button to confirm.
And you’re done! If you have difficulties, carefully consult your
Kia
’s owner’s manual for further details.

How often does a 2021 Kia Forte need an oil change?

The manufacturer recommends that you use Mobil 1-Advanced Full Synthetic 5W-20 Motor Oil when changing your 2021 Kia Forte’s oil.
Unfortunately, full synthetic oil tends to be more expensive than conventional oil—but there’s a significant upside: you won’t have to change your engine oil nearly as often! With full synthetic oil, you can go about 7,500 to 10,000 miles between oil changes. That’s as seldom as once a year if you don’t drive too often.
If you do need to pinch pennies and opt for conventional oil, keep in mind that you’ll need to change it far more often—every 3,000 to 5,000 miles
Either way, it’s essential to regularly check your oil levels and keep an eye out for signs that your oil needs changing, such as dark or dirty oil,
loud engine sounds
or weird smells, or an overall decrease in engine performance.

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
