To reset the oil light on a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander, turn the vehicle off, press the Info button on the left side of the dash once to alert the system, hold the Info button until you see a flashing wrench symbol on the display, then press the Info button again.
Your 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander is built with a Routine Maintenance indicator system that uses your mileage to track your recommended vehicle servicing schedule. Once the system determines your current oil is no longer cutting it for a healthy engine, it will alert you as such—but you’ll need to reset it once you’ve taken care of the issue.
We’re here to walk you through the process of resetting the maintenance light in the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander, which happily, is quite simple when it comes to
car repair
. Here are the steps, plus some need-to-knows about your oil change intervals.

How to reset the engine oil maintenance light on a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander

The 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander comes equipped with an indicator system that tracks several of your vehicle’s systems and sends you an alert when one or more of them are out of whack. If your engine oil is too low or contaminated, for example, you’ll see a Routine Maintenance Required symbol pop up on your Outlander’s display.
You’ll want to take care of that oil change as soon as possible, but even after you do, you’ll be starting at that indicator alert until you reset the system. Luckily, the resetting procedure is relatively straightforward. Here’s what to do:
  • Turn your vehicle and ignition off
  • Locate and press the Info button on the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel
  • Press and hold the Info button down until the display flashes
  • Press the Info button again to finish the reset
Once it’s done, you should see a “Clear” message on the display. If you don’t see that message, repeat the above steps. The reset system will start its mileage tracking over and be prepped to alert you again when it’s time for another oil change.

How often does a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander need an oil change?

While it’s nice to be alerted through your car’s systems, it’s important to have an idea of when your 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander will need an oil change so you’re not driving around and
potentially damaging your engine
with bad oil.
Mitsubishi recommends an oil change every 7,500 to 8,000 miles or every six months for a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander. Of course, your driving habits and driving environment also impact the life of your oil, so it’s best to check your oil about once a month and always be on alert for signs of poor oil quality like reduced fuel economy or a burning smell coming from your engine.
If you determine it’s time for your Outlander to get an oil change, make a servicing appointment at your local Mitsubishi dealership or trusted local mechanic. Or, if you’re looking to save some money on your car expenses, try your hand at an at-home oil change. It’s relatively beginner friendly and the savings from professional oil changes really add up!
