To reset the oil light on your 2015 Kia Soul, put your car’s ignition in the “ON” position. Then, use your steering wheel buttons to navigate to the Service Interval menu before selecting and confirming the reset option.
The service interval light in your Kia is designed to remind you when it’s time to replace the oil in your car. But even though this light automatically tracks the intervals between oil changes, it won’t turn off on its own. Instead, you’ll have to remember to reset the light yourself when you change the oil.

How to reset the engine oil maintenance light on a 2015 Kia Soul

Your 2015 Kia Soul is equipped with a Service Interval light that tells you when it’s time to change the oil in your car. But while this light is excellent for reminding you to service your vehicle, the downside is that it doesn’t turn itself off automatically once you fill the car with clean oil. Instead, you’ll need to take a few seconds to reset the light manually so that your Kia can resume tracking the proper intervals between oil changes.
But don’t worry—resetting the light doesn’t require any training or mechanical expertise. All you have to do is follow these steps:
  • Without pressing the brake pedal, turn your ignition key to the “ON” position. If your car has a START/STOP button instead of a key, press the button twice without depressing the brake pedal to turn the ignition “ON.”
  • Locate the menu button on the bottom right section of your steering wheel. It looks like a file folder and is positioned above the button that looks like an upside-down triangle.
  • Press the menu button until you see the User Settings menu.
  • Use the down button (the one that looks like an upside-down triangle) to navigate to the Service Interval menu.
  • Scroll down to Reset and then use the menu button to confirm that you would like to reset the Service Interval light.
Completing these steps should reset your oil light. It will reappear when your 2015 Soul is due for another oil change.

How often does a 2015 Kia Soul need an oil change?

Kia recommends using SAE 5W-20 motor oil to replace the oil in your 2015 Soul every 7,500 miles
Regular oil changes are one of the simplest and most effective forms of maintenance you can perform on your Kia. And they are essential for not only prolonging your car’s life but also for
preventing serious engine damage
You can’t go wrong taking your Kia Soul to the dealership or an independent shop to have the oil changed. But if you want to get your hands dirty and save some cash at the same time, changing your own oil is an excellent DIY project that can save you time and money.
If you’re performing a basic oil change, resetting your Kia’s Service Interval light should be relatively quick and easy. But if the light gets stuck and won’t turn off, or if your Soul needs a more complex form of maintenance or a repair, you’re better off taking your car to a professional mechanic.
