The oil change light on your Honda Odyssey indicates that it’s time for an oil change, but the light will not turn off on its own once you’ve completed the task. To turn the light off, you’ll need to go into your vehicle settings and reset the system.
Here’s a quick guide to resetting the oil light system on a 2015 Honda Odyssey using the steering wheel settings knob or the settings button located on the infotainment control panel.

How to reset the engine oil maintenance light on a 2015 Honda Odyssey

The 2015 Honda Odyssey comes equipped with Honda’s Maintenance Minder system that sends maintenance service reminders to your display screen, including when it’s time for an oil change.
When your Honda Odyssey’s oil life hits below 15%, the Maintenance Minder oil light illuminates on the driver's dashboard to indicate your Odyssey needs an oil change. You’ll need to reset this light after changing the oil to keep your Maintenance Minder system up-to-date with your maintenance schedule.
Thankfully, there are two ways to reset the oil light in your 2015 Odyssey. You can use the select/reset knob on your steering wheel or the settings button on your infotainment control panel to quickly reset your Odyssey’s oil light.
To reset the light using your steering wheel, follow these instructions:
  • Turn the ignition on without turning the engine on (accessory mode)
  • Press and hold the select/reset knob (or settings knob) on the steering wheel for 10 seconds
  • Reset mode will appear on the information display
  • Select “oil life” with the knob
  • Press and hold the knob for a few seconds to enter oil life reset mode
  • Press and hold the hold for five more seconds
  • The maintenance light will turn off and the oil life display will return to 100%
If you’d rather use the settings button and control dial on your infotainment system to reset the oil light from your Odyssey’s display screen, follow these steps:
  • Turn the ignition on without turning the engine on (accessory mode)
  • Hit the settings button on the control panel below your infotainment screen(s)
  • Select “vehicle settings” from the options that appear on the top infotainment display screen
  • Scroll down and select “maintenance reset” using the central dial on the control panel
  • Tilt the central dial down to activate the reset prompt
  • Hit enter to reset the maintenance information
  • The maintenance light will turn off and the oil life display will return to 100%
Now that your Maintenance Minder oil life records are returned to 100%, the system can accurately track your oil health and send your next oil change reminder!

How often does a 2015 Honda Odyssey need an oil change?

Honda recommends using Genuine Honda Motor Oil premium-grade or synthetic oil to keep your Honda Odyssey running. If you’re using conventional oil, you’ll need an oil change every 3,500 to 5,000 miles—but if you’re using synthetic, you can delay until every 7,500 to 10,000 miles
Oil changes are a great way to keep your 2015 Odyssey running smoothly. Listening to your Maintenance Minder and staying on schedule can help you avoid the
consequences of not performing an oil change
, making it a necessary step to maintaining your Odyssey’s health.
You can save around $100 if you opt for replacing your oil and oil filter at home using the instructions in your owner’s manual, but you’ll need to reset the maintenance yourself. If the options listed above don’t seem to work for you, head over to your local Honda dealership or repair shop for service.
