Where is the OBD port in a Suzuki Grand Vitara?

Let’s see if I can stump you guys! I have a pretty rare car, a Suzuki Grand Vitara. It’s showing a check engine light, so I bought an OBD-II scanner and planned on finding out what codes it finds, but I’m not sure where to find the OBD port in a Suzuki Grand Vitara. Any suggestions?

The OBD port in a
Suzuki Grand Vitara
is above the gas pedal on the underside of the dashboard.
You’ll find the OBD port in your Suzuki Grand Vitara above the accelerator pedal, on the underside of the dashboard and facing down. It’s hidden behind the trim, close to where your right knee is when driving. You’ll want to get down low to the ground with a flashlight and look up to see it.
It can be hard to spot if you don’t know what to look for. The OBD port is a small rectangular box with sixteen tiny rectangular plug holes, eight on top and eight on the bottom. It almost looks like a port on the back of an old school computer.
Your OBD port is good for more than just turning up engine codes. If you’re a Progressive or Allstate customer, you may consider using
Snapshot or Drivewise telematics devices
, which can lower your Suzuki Grand Vitara insurance costs.
We have some more useful information for you, too! Be sure to read our guides on
reading your car’s OBD codes
what your check engine warning light means
. They’re loaded to the brim with useful info that can help as you use the OBD-II scanner and diagnose your engine trouble.
We hope all this is useful information and that your check engine light is nothing serious. The Suzuki Grand Vitara is a unique vehicle and we want to help you keep it on the road as long as possible!
