It’s almost time to change your Scion TC’s engine oil, but first, you’ll just need a socket and filter wrench, a drain pan, a replacement filter, and 4.6 quarts of synthetic motor oil.

Now that you’ve gathered your tools and materials, we can get started! Warm up your Scion by running it until it reaches regular operating temperatures. After about five minutes, you can follow these steps to change your oil:

Disconnect the oil cap

Remove the oil drain bolt and washer

Drain the old oil into the drain pan

Remove the old oil filter before installing the new filter

Reinstall the bolt and washer

Fill the engine with the oil of your choice

After you’ve finished replacing your oil, check your oil levels using your dipstick and make sure you don’t have any leaks. If your oil change was done correctly, the oil pressure light on your dashboard should turn off.

After changing your oil, it’s a good idea to turn on your car and let your engine run for about 30 seconds before you check the oil level. This will give you a more accurate measurement, and you’ll be able to top it off if necessary.

You aren’t finished with a job like this until you’ve cleaned up. Pour the old oil into a sealed container and bring it to a recycling center to properly dispose of it.
