Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to change your Ram’s oil at home:

Park your truck on a level spot. Turn on the engine and let it reach normal operating temperature.

Open the hood and unscrew the engine oil fill cap.

Remove the oil drain plug with your 13mm wrench. Put the drain pan underneath the plug hole and let the old engine oil drain out.

Take the oil filter out. You’ll find this to the right of the crank pulley on the front of the engine.

Install the new engine oil filter once the fittings have been cleaned off.

Put the oil drain plug back and tighten it with your wrench.

Fill your engine with 7 quarts of new engine oil with your funnel. Put the cap back on.

Turn your engine back on to allow the new oil to circulate. Turn off your truck after a few minutes.

Check the engine oil level with your dipstick and top it off if you need to. Be careful not to overfill your engine.

After changing your oil, it’s a good idea to turn on your car and let your engine run for about 30 seconds before you check the oil level. This will give you a more accurate measurement, and you’ll be able to top it off if necessary.
