2004 Ford Ranger bolt pattern

Your
Ford bolt pattern
for the 2004 Ford Ranger is 5x4.5, or five on 4.5, unless you are driving a diesel engine (2.5D and 2.5TD). The diesel engine is the exception—it uses a 6x5.5 bolt pattern.
But what is a bolt or lug pattern? The two numbers in the bolt pattern come from this simple formula:
# of bolts x diameter of the circle they form
The 5x4.5 bolt pattern tells you that a 2004 Ford Ranger has five bolts (lugs) for each wheel and that they’re set in a circle 4.5 inches across. If you have a 2.5D or 2.5TD Ranger, you’ll have six bolts forming a circle 5.5 inches across.
While the bolt pattern gets you started, you need more information before you pick out a new set of tires or rims. You also need to know your 2004 Ranger’s stud size, wheel offset, center bore measurement, and torque specifications, which are listed here:
  • Factory wheel size: 14” and 15”
  • Stud size: M12 x 1.5
  • Offset: 10 to 18 mm
  • Center bore: 70.6 mm
  • Wheel tightening torque: 135 Nm

How to measure your 2004 Ford Ranger’s bolt pattern

If you wish, you can use a measuring tape or ruler to check those measurements for yourself.
Once you have a measuring tape, pick a bolt on one of the wheels. Measure from the outer edge of the lug hole to the center of the opposite bolt. Thanks to the uneven number of five bolts, you’ll want to pick the bolt to the right or left once you try to go straight across, then measure to the center of that bolt.
Whatever measurement you come up with is the diameter. If you tack the diameter on after the number of bolts in the formula (# of bolts x diameter of the circle they form), you’ll know the bolt pattern.
