How to measure your Ford Ranger’s bolt pattern
It’s easy to measure a Ford bolt pattern with common household measuring tools. Get a measuring tape or a ruler and head out to your car. Pick any wheel and you’re ready to start.
Find one bolt. Place the beginning of your measuring instrument at the outer edge of this lug hole. Now, this part is a little tricky. Your 1996 Ranger has five bolts, so there is not a bolt directly across the imaginary circle on the hub. Instead, bring the end of the ruler toward the place where a hole would be, and then pick one of the lug holes next to that imaginary spot.
Measure from the outer edge of the first lug hole to the center of the “opposite” bolt. This measurement is your diameter, and it should come out to 4.5 inches. In combination with the number of bolts (5), you can see for yourself that your 1996 Ford Ranger bolt pattern is 5x4.5.
