Chevrolet’s bolt patterns
vary by model and year. The 2002 Chevy Silverado has a bolt pattern of 5 x 5, which is also sometimes written as 5 on 5. What do those numbers mean? Any bolt pattern (also called a lug pattern) can be expressed like this:
# of bolts x diameter of the circle they make
So a 5 x 5 bolt pattern translates to five bolts that are placed in a circle that’s five inches in diameter. But hold on—there are a few other bits of info you’ll need as well, like torque specifications, stud size, wheel offset, and more.
And as luck would have it, we’ve got all those deets right here:
  • Factory wheel size: 15”
  • Stud size: M14 x 1.5 (14mm stud with 1.5 mm between threads)
  • Offset: -44 to 44 mm
  • Center bore: 78.1 mm
  • Wheel tightening torque: 190 Nm

How to measure your Chevy Silverado’s bolt pattern

If you want to learn how to measure a bolt pattern yourself, it’s easy to do! You’ll just need a measuring tape or a ruler. Select a bolt and measure from the outer edge of its lug hole to the center of the opposite bolt. As there are five bolts, none of them are directly across from each other, so you can use either of the points that are nearest to the opposite point.
The number that you get is the diameter of the circle of bolts. Combine that with the number of bolts on a wheel, and you’ve just measured a bolt pattern!
