2022 Rolls-Royce Ghost Black Badge
It’s no secret that Rolls-Royces are expensive,
luxury cars
made with the finest materials money can buy. On its own, the
Rolls-Royce
Ghost is a beast on the streets. The Ghost is equipped with stellar technology, a customized interior, and a sleek design.
And, starting just under $400,00, drivers definitely pay for the luxuries associated with the Ghost. But for some, it might not be enough. When a driver wants to go bigger, better—and more expensive—that’s where the Rolls-Royce Ghost Black Badge comes into play.

What is the 2022 Rolls-Royce Ghost Black Badge?

The Rolls-Royce Ghost Black Badge is an optional additional package drivers can add to their Rolls-Royce Ghost. While the average Ghost starts around $398,850, the addition of the Black Badge will run drivers another $43,850, according to
Car and Driver
.
The addition of the Black Badge allows drivers to choose between customized design features—the most popular of which, of course, is a monochromatic dark black. There’s also increased performance and acceleration features meant to enhance driver enjoyment.

What do you get with the 2022 Rolls-Royce Ghost Black Badge?

The biggest and most obvious differences between the Ghost and the Ghost Black Badge are design related. For starters,
MotorTrend
reports that Black Badge cars have unique wheels that are a lightweight composite construction with 44 layers of carbon and forged aluminum hubs.
The Black Badge also adds a darkened chrome trim and carbon fiber throughout, which is a refreshingly modern take on the traditional Rolls-Royce. According to Car and Driver, the Black Badge adds dark mirror gloss on the grille, emblems, and retractable Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament, and Rolls says the finish will not chip or peel.
While a pitch black paint is undoubtedly the most popular choice for the Black Badge, Rolls-Royce actually has over 44,000 paint colors for drivers to choose from, or they can customize their own.
The engine remains the same in both the Ghost and Ghost Black Badge, but the Black Badge has increased power—horsepower jumps from 563 to 592, and increases 37 lb-ft of torque from 627 to 664.

What car critics like and don’t like

Although the engine change doesn’t seem like much, in a Rolls-Royce it’s pretty substantial and critics appreciate it. Historically, Rolls-Royce cars are almost as quiet as an electric vehicle, which means sports car lovers don’t get that engine noise.
But, the Black Badge edges that extra power needed.
Motor Authority
describes the Ghost Black Badge’s engine as, “a lion in the winter,” delivering confidence, speed, power, adrenaline, and just the right amount of noise.
Although the Ghost Black Badge boasts lighter weight because of the wheels and design, both Motor Authority as well as Car and Driver agree the changes don’t make any substantial difference at all. Plus, Car and Driver found the spindly turn singal to be a disappointing stand out that didn’t fit in with the rest of the car.
Overall, the Black Badge adds a customized look and unique design to the Rolls-Royce Ghost, but of course, at a hefty price.
