Fastest hatchbacks under 7.7 seconds

The 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport Touring starts at $29,850 and can ramp up to 60 mph in 7.7 seconds. The Civic features a 1.5-liter turbo I-4 engine with 180 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. 
Drivers can choose between a CVT automatic transmission or a six-speed manual, both of which come with standard front-wheel drive. The hatch also offers three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport. 
The Hyundai i30 N Performance has a top speed of 155 mph and can hit 62 mph in 5.9 seconds. The engine has a two-liter capacity and pumps out 276 hp and 289 lb-ft of torque. The five-door compact hatchback can accommodate up to five people and offers up to 45.5 cubic feet of luggage space when fully expanded.
The 2022 Mini John Cooper Works Hardtop 2 Door cranks out 228 hp, powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine.

, “The JCW Hardtop 2-door is capable of completing a 0-60 mph sprint in 5.9 seconds with the 8-speed automatic & 6.3 seconds with the standard 6-speed manual, along with a quarter-mile time of 14.2 seconds.” The hardtop can reach a top speed of 155 mph.

Fastest hatchbacks: 5.3 seconds or less

The 2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI lives somewhere between the powerful Golf R and the standard Golf we all know and love. The hatch starts at $29,545 and features a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine with 241 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. With a top speed of 155 mph, the GTI can jump to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds. 
The 2022 Hyundai Veloster N houses a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine with 275 hp. At a higher price of $32,500, the Veloster N can hit 60 mph in 5.2 seconds with its manual transmission. 
Its automatic can get there in 4.8 seconds. If you don’t mind the quirky sloping roofline that alters headroom for the rear passenger, this hatch is a great option for the daily driver
Under the hood, the Kia Stinger GT S 3.3T-GDi V6 houses a twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 gas engine. The Stinger can ramp up to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds with a max speed of 168 mph. Drivers will receive an eight-speed automatic transmission and up to 39.3 cubic feet of luggage room for larger loads. 

Less than 4.7 seconds

The Ford Focus RS offers a 2.3-liter inline-four turbo engine. The hatch boasts 345 hp, 325 lb-ft of torque, and can reach a top speed of 167 mph. With a combined EPA of about 30 mpg, the RS only needs 4.7 seconds to jump to 60 mph. 
The 2017-2020 Audi RS3 Sportback has a top speed of 174 mph. The auto features a 2.5-liter 20v inline-five engine with 354 lb-ft of torque. According to

, “Luggage space is 11.8 cubic feet, but can be expanded to 41.5 cubic feet for larger loads, with a maximum payload capacity of 937 lbs.” The RS3 has no problem achieving 62 mph in 4.1 seconds.
Some of the fastest hatchbacks ever include the Mercedes AMG A 45 S 4MATIC+ and the2022 Volkswagen Golf R. The Mercedes AMG A 45 S 4MATIC+can accelerate to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds. The speedster has a top speed of 167 mph and a whopping 416 hp. The Mercedes also offers 369 lb-ft of torque and a combined EPA of 28 mpg.
Starting at $43,645, the Golf R is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The 315-hp hatch also offers an optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The Volkswagen has a top speed of 155 mph and can accelerate to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds.
