in the same sentence, but what can we say, the 2023 Land Rover Defender 80 is poised to be the most petite (and affordable) of the brand’s offerings yet.The junior Defender 80 will offer everything you love about the rugged Land Rover Defender line but in a much smaller and more practical package.

Critics raved about the new Defender, which got a fresh redesign for 2023, but the entry point to Defender ownership still tops the $50,000 mark. This brings the junior Defender 80, a smaller and more affordable version of the stylish SUV.
While many details about the junior Defender 80 have yet to be released, Car and Driver expects that it will come at a starting price of about $30,000, putting it right in line with rivals like the Ford Bronco and the Jeep Wrangler.
Higher trim options and more luxurious add-ons could even put it on par with the likes of the Audi Q3, the BMW XI, and the Volvo XC40.
The Defender 80 will go on sale in 2022 as a 2023 model.

What to expect from the Land Rover Defender 80
Much like Land Rover’s other offerings, expect great off-roading capabilities, four-wheel drive, and a stylish build similar to the Defender. Because it will be much smaller in size, it likely won’t be sharing a platform with the Defender, but rather something like the Harrier, a small SUV sold by Jaguar-Land Rover's parent company Tata.
As far as engine and performance go, Car and Driver suspects that Land Rover's 246-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter Ingenium four-cylinder that is found in models like the Discovery Sport and the Range Rover Evoque would be a good fit for this model.
