gave the 2022 Nissan Versa an overall score of 62 out of 100, based on a variety of factors. The Versa’s 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine seems to perform well, which really boosted the car’s overall score. Consumer Reports found the transmission and braking to be good, and the car’s 0 to 60 mph run time of 9.6 seconds to be adequate. On top of that, the
Nissan Versa
gets great fuel economy, at an overall 32 mpg. Average fuel costs per year are less than $1,500, which means drivers can continue to save after they get the car on the road. But, comfort throughout the vehicle is seriously lacking, and both predicted reliability and predicted owner satisfaction are poor at a three and two out of five, respectively.

2022 Kia Rio
With a price range starting at $16,450 and going up to $17,390, the
2022 Kia Rio
is an inexpensive, middle-of-the-road vehicle. Consumer Reports
gave the 2022 Rio an overall score of 53, with most of its score being carried by its performance on the road test. The 1.6-liter, inline four engine with continuously automatic transmission produces 120 hp, and reviewers were pleased by the transmission, braking, and emergency handling of the vehicle. Fuel economy is also great at an overall rating of 33 mpg.
Similar to the Nissan Versa, the Kia Rio didn’t get great reviews in any comfort category, as everything was rated either average or below average. Plus, predicted reliability is a three out of five, while predicted owner satisfaction is just a two out of five.
2022 Mitsubishi Mirage

The 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage has a predicted reliability score of three out of five and a predicted owner satisfaction score of two out of five, which both dragged the overall score down.But, the vehicle didn’t perform well on its road test either. While the Mitsubishi Mirage has great fuel economy at an overall rating of 37 mpg, that was essentially the only category it rated highly in on the road. Consumer Reports found acceleration, transmission, and braking to be average or below average.
Plus, no comfort category scored particularly well, with noise level, interior fit and finish, and cargo space being particularly bad.
Although the Nissan Versa shows you can get a bang for your buck in this price range, the Mitsubishi Mirage reminds drivers that sometimes inexpensive vehicles aren’t worth the trouble down the line.
