background
As
gas prices continue to be unpredictable
throughout the country, a vehicle’s fuel economy is more important than ever before. Fuel economy measures the number of miles a car can go with a certain amount of fuel. The higher the fuel economy of the car, the better for the driver.
In the search for vehicles on the market with great fuel economy rates, two
Toyota
SUVs stood out. Both the 2022 Toyota Highlander and 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid are SUVs with fantastic fuel economy ratings—here’s what you need to know about them.

2022 Toyota Highlander

The 2022 Toyota Highlander is a reliable vehicle with an impressive fuel economy of 22 mpg overall. The rating is made up of 14 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.
Not only does the engine of this three-row Toyota SUV provide a great fuel economy, but it also gives the vehicle power and speed. According to
Consumer Reports
, the Highlander’s V6 engine provides 295 hp with secure and agile handling.
The interior of the Toyota Highlander is comfortable and spacious, although the third row can get a little cramped on long drives. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard with the easy-to-use infotainment system, and all controls are intuitive.
On top of that, the 2022 Highlander comes equipped with various safety features, overall making this SUV a perfect car for road trips. Get the 2022 Toyota Highlander in a price range of about $36,000 to $50,000.

2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

While it is similar to the 2022 Toyota Highlander in most aspects, the
2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
has even better fuel economy than its parent trim.
Under the hood of this hybrid Toyota SUV, drivers will find a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine paired with an electric powertrain that produces a fuel economy rating of 35 mpg overall. The rating consists of a 27 mpg rating in the city and 41mpg rating on the highway.
The Highlander Hybrid’s engine produces 243 hp, meaning we sacrifice a bit of power and speed for higher fuel economy here. But, the 2022 Highlander Hybrid has the same roomy interior, quality materials, and intuitive infotainment system as the standard 2022 Highlander.
And, while the 2022 Highlander comes standard with forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, the Highlander Hybrid has both of those, but adds on blind spot warning as standard, too.
