Will Progressive cover pothole damage?

Can insurance cover pothole damage? I ran over a pothole the other day and instantly my car started making this crazy sound. I am not sure if I should call the claim department or not.

“Potholes can cause a lot of damage to your car if they are big enough. A pothole can:
  • bend or puncture your tires
  • throw the alignment off
  • damage the struts and suspension
Progressive
will cover any damage caused to your vehicle from a pothole as long as you have
collision coverage
.
Even though this would be considered a single-car accident, the claim could impact the rate of your policy.
It would be a good idea to bring your car to a mechanic first and get an estimate of the damage.
If it is a small bill that you can handle yourself, don’t report it as a claim and risk a policy increase. If the repairs are out of your reach, then contact the claims department.”
