Will a dead battery still spark?

I’m trying to jumpstart my car (which I’ve never done before), and I wanted to double-check something. Since the battery in my car is dead, I don’t have to worry about it sparking or anything, right?

Yes—a dead battery will still spark! Even though your battery is too low on power to start your car, that doesn’t mean it is entirely devoid of any electrical charge. Unlike an arc of electricity, it doesn’t take much power to cause a spark.
Don’t worry though—a little spark is nothing to worry about. Some car owners intentionally cause a spark to ensure they get a good electrical connection. Just follow all the standard safety precautions while jumpstarting your car, and everything should be fine!
While taking care of your car’s upkeep and maintenance, it might be a good time to revisit your
car insurance
policy. Most drivers pay more than they need for their coverage simply because they don’t know that better deals are available.
That won’t ever be a problem again, though, if you download the free
insurance broker app
known as
Jerry
.
It’s a simple and easy app to use—the whole process only takes a few minutes! Best of all, drivers who use Jerry save an average of $800+ a year!
