Why is Aston Martin abandoning the manual transmission?

I thought I saw something a while back that said Aston Martin would keep producing manual transmission vehicles, but now I’m hearing they’re going to start phasing them out? Why is Aston Martin abandoning the manual transmission?

When Aston Martin announced they were doing away with the manual transmission, CEO Tobias Moers cited that Aston Martin buyers overwhelmingly prefer the automatic transmission as the reason.
Given that the manual transmission is no longer required and that their automatic counterparts routinely outperform them, the continued production of a unique powertrain model—one that requires constant updating due to changing emission regulations—is neither economical nor efficient.
The manual transmission is nowhere near as necessary as it used to be and just isn’t up to par with the modern automatic transmission, delivering less speed and diminished fuel economy.
