Why do I get dizzy when driving at night?

I try to avoid being in the car at night whenever I can because it always makes me feel dizzy and nauseated. Why does driving at night make me feel sick? Is it eye strain or something else?

I’m sorry to hear that you’re dealing with that. Many people experience slight dizziness or nausea after driving due to motion sickness, but if you only feel sick after driving at night there may be something else going on. Some people get dizzy when driving at night due to Binocular Vision Dysfunction (BVD), which is also referred to as vertical heterophoria.
BVD refers to a slight misalignment of the eyes, which makes you see things at two different levels. It can be caused by a
head injury
, but it can also be genetic. If you are suffering from BVD, you might also have intense headaches or feel the need to move your head from side to side at random moments.
If you believe that your dizziness might be caused by BVD, you should seek medical help to get the problem addressed, as symptoms can worsen over time.
