I live in Oklahoma and am ready to get my learner’s permit. Before I head to the DMV, I need to know how much it costs so that I can financially prepare. How much should I bring to get my driving permit in Oklahoma?

That’s so exciting that you’re ready to apply for your learner’s permit—what a big milestone! In
Oklahoma
, a typical driving permit costs just $4 if you apply with a state Driver License Examiner.
To apply for a permit, you must be at least 15 ½ years old.
Make an appointment
with the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to see a Driver License Examiner. The examiner will process your application and administer a vision and written test. Pay the $4 fee with a credit card to have your permit printed at the DPS location.
If you need to pay with cash or money order, the examiner will issue a form that you can take to a nearby tag agency. There, you can pay the $4 fee and have your permit printed.
You’ll also have the option of taking your written test at a Career Tech Testing Center. There is an additional $25 fee associated, and you will still have to visit a DPS location to complete your vision exam and to be issued a permit.
Best of luck on your journey to getting your
Oklahoma driver's license
