Who owns Lincoln?

I recently bought a Lincoln Continental, and I was wondering who owns the company. Can you fill me in?

Since Lincoln isn’t an independent company, figuring out who owns it isn’t so easy. Instead, we’ll need to take a look at the parent company. Lincoln has been the luxury division of Ford for around 100 years now. It’s not uncommon for the brands you know and love to be owned by another automaker, and Lincoln is no exception.
As far as who owns Ford, it’s complicated. Since its a publicly traded company, the shares have been divided across many companies and individuals. Some investment companies with large shares of Ford include:
  • The Vanguard Group
  • BlackRock Fund Advisors
  • Newport Trust
Of course, the Ford family still has sway in the company. The family only owns a few percentage points of the total stock, but they do have plenty of say in the decisions that Ford, and Lincoln, make.
