You and your wife are correct—the Biffmister is driving again in NASCAR, piloting New York Racing Team’s No. 44 Chevrolet. Biffle stopped racing full-time back in 2016 but never actually left the sport. He was looking for the right opportunity to return to the NASCAR Cup Series when one finally presented itself.
Biffle raced in this year’s Daytona 500—granted, he did finish 36th out of 40 drivers, but hey, most people don’t even come close to driving in The Great American Race!
Biffle drove a Chevy built on a Richard Childress racing chassis paired with a Hendrick Motorsports engine. The car was sponsored by Grambling University. Biffle came close to winning Daytona twice—in both 2010 and 2012, he finished third. He was also the pole-sitter for the 2004 race.
Biffle isn’t exactly a spring chicken—he raced in Daytona at the age of 52, which made him the oldest driver in the field. Considering auto racing requires a tremendous amount of physical and mental strength, top-notch fitness, and world-class skill at driving a race car, this is no small achievement.
Whether you’re Greg Biffle or not, insuring your car is a must, and there’s no easier way to do so than with a robust car insurance
