Where should I look when driving a car?

I’m trying to make myself a better driver after getting in an accident about a month ago. While I feel better about turning, braking, and accelerating, I’m still not 100% sure where to look when I’m behind the wheel. Where should I look while I’m driving my car?

Knowing where to focus when you’re driving is essential to becoming a
safe driver
and avoiding an accident.
Here’s where to look when driving a car:
  • Look straight ahead and never down.
  • Use your peripheral vision to scan on each side of your car, ideally up to 180 degrees.
  • Check your blind spots if you’re executing a lane change or turning.
  • Check your side mirrors and rearview mirror once every five to seven seconds.
  • Look ahead about 15 to 20 seconds in the city and up to 30 seconds to scan for emergency vehicles, debris in the road, and other hazards or obstacles.
  • Keep your eyes moving so you’re always looking for other motorists or obstacles.
Since you got into an accident, your car insurance rates are likely to rise. But that doesn’t mean you have to pay an exorbitant amount. Instead, let
