Where is the Nissan Z made?

I’ve only driven American muscle cars, but I’m considering upgrading to the Nissan Z. It looks really slick, but I’m a little hesitant to break my streak. I have plenty to mull over, but for starters: where is the Nissan Z made?

While the Nissan Z has changed quite a bit from its debut in 1969, one thing that hasn’t changed is the manufacturing country. The Nissan Z is made in Japan. The latest Zs are produced at the Nissan assembly plant in Kaminokawa, Tochigi.
The new and long-awaited seventh-generation 2023 Nissan Zs have been steadily rolling off the Tochigi assembly line, but the Z-car lineup wasn’t always manufactured there. Here’s a timeline with the locations of where Nissan Z models were built:
  • 1969–2000: Hiratsuka, Kanagawa, Japan (Nissan Shatai Plant)
  • 2002–2004: Yokosuka, Kanagawa, Japan (Oppama Plant)
  • 2004–present: Kaminokawa, Tochigi, Japan (Tochigi Plant)
