Where is the gas tank release on a Volkswagen Passat?

How do you open the fuel door on a Volkswagen Passat? I’ve never driven a Volkswagen before but I just got one for my birthday and I’m not sure how to fill up the tank!

Congrats on your new car! To release the gas tank door on the
Volkswagen Passat
 simply unlock your car and press inward on the fuel door on the exterior of your vehicle. The door should pop open, giving you access to your gas tank.
Keep in mind, this will only work if your car is unlocked. If you lock your car, the fuel door will lock as well. This prevents any theft or unwanted tampering with your gas tank when you leave your vehicle unattended. If you can’t get your fuel door to open, check your car locks and try again.
