Where is the Chevy Cruze diesel engine made?

I’ve always been a fan of diesel engines, as they seem to run a bit better than gas-powered options. Last week, I saw a Chevy Cruze diesel for sale in the paper, but I wanted to know if it’s made in the U.S. Where does Chevy make diesel engines for the Cruze?

The Chevy Cruze diesel engine is produced in Kaiserslautern, Germany, as many American companies have moved production of diesel components overseas. The reason for this is that European markets have preferred diesel engines for decades, and as such, have a better production process than U.S. companies.
Officially, the diesel engine in the Cruze is produced by Opel—a German manufacturer that signed a production agreement with Chevy to make all of its diesel engines.
