Where is the 2012 BMW X5’s battery located?
I recently bought a used 2012 BMW X5 and would like to check the battery, but I am unsure of the battery’s actual placement—I know it’s not under the hood, but that’s about it. Where is the 2012 BMW X5’s battery located?

Great question! As you already know, your 2012 BMW X5’s battery is not underneath the hood—rather, it is in the trunk, underneath the floor. To access the battery, follow the steps below:
- Open the trunk and lower the tailgate.
- Use the front floor panel latch to lift it up and out.
- Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the five screws holding the tool/storage panel in place and then lift the compartment up and out.
At this point, you should now be able to see the battery. There are a few more steps to remove and replace the battery, but you can stop here if you’re just looking to check it or familiarize yourself with how to access a 2012 BMW X5’s battery.
