Where is the 1994 Jeep Cherokee OBD port location?

My son just brought home an older Jeep Cherokee and he wants me to help him fix it up. But we’re both having a hard time finding the OBD port to check for issues. Where is the 1994 Jeep Cherokee OBD port location?

What a great bonding experience for both of you!
The 1994
Jeep Cherokee
OBD port should be located under the hood on the passenger’s side next to the powertrain control module (PCM). Based on your Jeep’s model year, you’ll have an OBD-I port instead of an OBD-II port—mandated on all vehicles made after 1996 in the United States.
The OBD system, which stands for On-Board Diagnostics, is an onboard computer that observes and tracks vehicle information including emissions, mileage, and other important data. The first and second-gen OBD systems differ because the OBD-II system is integrated into the vehicle itself, while the OBD-I system is externally connected to the vehicle’s console.
Once you locate the OBD-I port, you’ll need to use an OBD-I scanner to pull up the OBD codes. If you don’t
understand car OBD codes
, there’s no shame in
taking your car to a mechanic
for a proper diagnosis of any potential problems you may have with your 1994 Jeep Cherokee.
