Where do I start looking for car insurance in California as a 24-year-old student?

I'm looking for the cheapest basic car insurance that fulfills the state requirement here in California. Do you have any tips for me?

It’s easy to find affordable car insurance these days since you can get quotes and compare prices online.

Just remember that the lowest-priced car insurance may not actually be the cheapest. If you get into an accident that totals your ride and you only have the state-minimum liability insurance, you’ll be out one car and have to find the money to buy a new one.
California’s minimum insurance requirements are:
  • Bodily injury: $15,000 per person
  • Bodily injury: $30,000 per accident
  • Property damage: $5,000 per accident
If the damage you cause in an accident adds up to more than these numbers, you’re responsible for paying the outstanding amount. If you can afford to pay more money for additional coverage, you should.
