Where are BMW MINI Coopers made?
I’m trying to decide on a small compact car, and I didn’t really think about MINI until I saw one driving around the other day. I’m also fairly certain MINI vehicles are made by BMW now, so I wasn’t sure where they manufacture them. Where does MINI or BMW make the Cooper?

Despite being bought by BMW in 1996, BMW MINI Coopers were still made in Oxford, England, United Kingdom until they were discontinued in 2015. This can get confusing because many people confuse MINI Cooper for MINI—but the MINI Cooper is a model and MINI is the manufacturer.
Despite the loss of the Cooper and the subsequent purchase by BMW, the British automaker still makes all of its models in the U.K., despite the demise of the MINI Cooper. The current lineup of BMW MINI includes:
- Countryman
- Clubman
- Convertible
- Hardtop (2- or 4-door)
- Electric MINI (which is essentially an EV version of the Hardtop)
