When did Audi buy Lamborghini?
I’ve read that Lamborghini has changed hands numerous times over the decades, which has changed its style and design. I heard that Audi bought it, but I’m not sure when it happened. When was Lamborghini purchased by Audi?

—or, more technically, Volkswagen Group
—bought Lamborghini in 1998 for $110 million. Following the acquisition, VW Group put the direction of the Lamborghini brand under Audi—which is probably why most assume that Audi bought the Italian supercar company.Although Lamborghini is often synonymous with Italy, the purchase in 1998 was actually the third acquisition of the company by a foreign entity. Chrysler purchased the brand in 1987 and sold it to the Indonesian firm Megatech in 1994. After the 1998 purchase, Lamborghini became a German brand—marking the fourth different country to take control of the legendary company over the years.
