What’s the best route to the Outer Banks from New York?
I recently moved to New York for college, but my family wants me to join them for a vacation in the Outer Banks. I’m not sure how to get there or how long it will take me. Is there a good route for me to take between these two cities?

The best route to the Outer Banks from
New York
will still take you about eight and a half hours, so it’s not a short drive. To get there quickly:- Take I-78 West to I-95 South/NJ Turnpike South to exit the city
- Continue onto US-113 South
- Turn onto US-13 South
- Merge onto I-64 East, then merge onto VA-168 South
- Once you enter North Carolina, merge onto NC-168 South
- Continue onto US-158 East
- Turn onto Continue straight onto NC-12 South, which will take you into the Outer Banks
It’s a good idea to use a GPS app while you’re driving too since this can help you avoid traffic jams, road closures, construction, and other things that could delay your trip. Make sure to take some breaks along the way, too! It’s recommended that you stop every two hours for at least 15 minutes to maintain the best physical and mental state for driving.
